AMMA

Created and developed by Korean born Tina Sohn, Amma Therapy is a sophisticated and finely tuned system of body work. This treatment makes use of methods and treatment approaches that integrates traditional Asian medical principles into conventional Western treatment approach to dysfunctions related to the vital organs in order to analyze and study the general imbalances within the energetic system. AMMA makes use of a wide assortment of techniques, which may be similar to some important kinds of therapeutic massage and new and powerful pressure points that Tina Sohn herself discovered. Amma therapy has shown to be an extremely helpful mode of healing that can be used to address a wide range of medical problems.

HARA SHIATSU

Developed in Kotohira, Japan by Naoichi Kuzome, Hara Shiatsu is a type of bodywork therapy that uses very effective and straightforward diagnostics and treatments. This approach can be done for home treatment or used in clinical settings. Diagnosing abdominal issues is done in an attempt to evaluate the weakness, looseness, lumps, tightness, hardness, and sensations and reactions that move with pressure. The treatments strongly encourage the participation of the patient for his/her own healing process. Hara Shiatsu practitioners teach their patients to use their own skills to help them treat themselves. Clinical visits may not be necessary since a lot of health problems can be solved at home simply by combining breathing exercises with moxa treatment. This means that with this type of treatment, financial costs associated with chronic conditions can be minimized. Mr. Kuzome says that he treats every condition from knee pain to toothaches through the abdomen, and he emphasizes that the involvement of the patient and home treatments are very crucial in realizing full healing.

MEDICAL MASSAGE

Medical massage deals with the comprehensive massaging of the soft tissues of the body. These include the muscles, fascia, ligaments and tendons. Medical massage benefits those soft tissues by promoting a balanced state of health, and generating therapeutic effects on the respiratory, circulatory, nervous, energy, and muscular systems. Specialized strokes such as petrissage, effleurage, friction, and stretching techniques are used.

REFLEXOLOGY

Reflexology works on the principle that certain reflex regions in the hands and feet exist that pertain to every organs and glands and to various parts of the body, and that these parts can be affected when their corresponding reflex areas are stimulated. Reflexology is designed to boost circulation, enrich the blood supply, alleviate stress and tension, engender deep relaxation, and help unblock nerve impulses to balance and regulate the whole body.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1 What Clothing Should I Wear When Coming In For Massage?

You may have to disrobe in private (this is done while your therapist leaves or is away from the room). During the massage your body will be covered by a sheet or towel so you won’t be uncomfortable. You actually have the freedom to remain wearing any clothing you want or remove all your clothes during massage. Your comfort is very important so whatever you decide to wear or not to wear during massage will be respected at all times.

2 Can Massage Be Done On Just My Back?

At the start of the session, we will discuss what part of your body gives you problems and then this will be the area we will focus on. We’ve discovered that a more effective way of resolving the problem is by working the opposite muscle.

3. Does The Massage Hurt?

If the tissue hurts during a massage, it is unhealthy. A healthy tissue will not hurt. It’s important to tell us whether the hurt you feel is a “good” or “bad” kind of hurt. The pain usually subsides and ends after we have smoothed out the spasms.

4. Can I Simply Request For A Relaxing Massage?

Of course, but, if along the way, we find any issues we can treat them as gently as possible. We very much encourage stating clearly what kind of massage you want.

5. How Long Is One Massage Session?

A typical massage session usually lasts an hour. There are people who may request for longer treatments to address their specific issues, concerns, or needs. Due to time constraints, some individuals would request for just a 30-minute session.

6. How Often Should I Get A Massage?

To maximize its benefits, we suggest that you receive massage once a month. For chronic pain problems, one or two times a month would significantly enhance your quality of life.

7. Do You Accept Insurance?

Because a lot of insurance companies do not cover massage therapy in their insurance plans, our insurance billing is evaluated on a case-to-case basis. HMO’s and PPO’s will only agree to pay for a physical therapist, but auto insurance does pay 80% – 100% for massage therapy. For more information, please talk to your individual insurance carrier.

8. Is An Appointment Needed to Get Massage Therapy?

An appointment is required if you prefer treatment on a specific time or day. We accept same day appointments although you need to call us in advance to make sure we have available time.

9. If No One Answers When I Call Should I leave A Message On The Voice Mail?

Yes! Treatment sessions are always in progress and so we may not be able to answer the phone. We have several very efficient backup systems in order to answer your calls and take your messages. If we can’t answer right away, we will return your call at the soonest time possible.
